IBM Cenntenial AR-Terminal

A logo leaps into the third dimension – and a postcard comes to life. To mark the company centenary, IBM published a series of icons that represent 100 years of innovation and ideas.

At the Augmented Reality Terminal designed by madhat, users could pick up these ‘icons of progress’ in the form of postcards. When they held a card in front of the built-in camera, something unexpected happened: the card became a platform for a 3D animation that ran on the integrated screen. Depending on the card’s position or movements, the image on screen changed – in real time.
