Audi Logistics Showcase

Logistics are anything but boring. Years before a car production line starts to roll, streams of materials need to be planned, tested and implemented with all the precision and elegance of a symphony orchestra.

At the Audi plant in Ingolstadt, this soon became clear to people who took the ‘Logistics’ guided tour. They were asked to pit their wits against Audi’s simulation software by guessing the volume of standardised transport boxes.

Sounds dull? Not in this case: designed and built by madhat, the application ran on a transparent touch monitor with a second level made of ‘smart glass’. Viewers could see real objects on several different layers while they rotated clouds of virtual objects through space.
